Hansa resort is one of the most beautifull resorts in koh PhaNgan, designed and built by the very friendly owner, who is a actually a certified lawyer but in the business of construction, design and real-estate. He has built his resort as a showcase of his experience and talents, which sets it aside from other places in the island.
The thatched bungalows combine elemets of wood, glass, and concrete, with sprayed cement walls. They were designed and built using both western and thai traditions, and ensure a comfortable and relaxed stay, while being coherent with the local south-thai style of this tropical island.
The bungalows are well spaced among the tall coconut trees, tropical gardens, grassy lawns, and small water ponds, all contributing to the natural and serene atmosphere. A beautifull terra-cotta stone path winds between the patio, the bungalows, the main building and the beach-side restaurant.
Although there are only 2 bungalows that are directly on the beach, the way the resort has been designed, and the carefull placement of the bungalows, ensures that most all of them have view of the ocean, and the evening breeze flows around freely.
All of the bungalows have en-suite shower or bathtub with hot and cold water , western toilet, HBO TV, mini-bar, and a nice veranda with ocean and garden views. The western side of the bungalows is actually a series of glass plates in wooden frames, which act as a door, and folds neatly to the side to create a continious open space that connects the room with the veranda. Open or closed, it allows a direct view of the ocean, while lying in bed. Thick cotton curtains supplement the design and provide privacy.
Some of the bungalows are air-conditioned, but even the fan-only rooms usualy don't get too hot, thanks to the building materials, the high thatched ceiling that lets out the hot air, and the huge windows which contribute to an excellent air flow.

The beach-side restaurant and bar serves a variety of thai and western dishes at reasonable prices and offers breath-taking views of the ocean and sunsets over samui. If you like seafood, just order one day ahead and in the next day they will serve you the fresh catch of the day.
The restaurant area also functions as a chill-out lounge where you can spend time with friends, read a book, listen to music, have a laugh with the friendly and amusing owner who speaks very good english, or watch the colors of the ocean change as the day goes by.
Other facilities and services include laundry, motorbike rent, safety deposit boxes, and basic travel services.
Hansa resort is located at Baan Thai beach, on the south-western side of Koh Phangan. This is a quiet beach with stunning sunset views, and a dreamy deserted island atmosphere with palms leaning in to the calm emerald sea.
A sunset-walk along the coast is highly recommended, but the few early-risers will find that the colors of the ocean and the sky at sunrise are even better.
The nearby fishing village of Baan Thai has some authentic restaurants and street-stands that feature fresh seafood and a variety of cheap genuine thai food (spicy...). It is an interesting place as it offers a glimpse into the local's life.
Hansa-Resort's location at Baan-Thai beach, means it is easy to travel to all parts of the island. Haad-Rin, The main travelers' town and the location of the monthly full moon party, is a mere 15 minutes drive away, as is the port town of Thong-Sala, which is the main residence of most of the island's local thai people.
Motorbikes are available for hire, but if you don't want the bother, taxis pass frequently on the road outside.
