Sandy bay resort is one of the longest running resorts on the island, operating since the mid 80s. It is family owned and run, with a very friendly and attentive staff that will take care of all your needs and ensure your vacation is every bit as magical as you've hoped for.
Sandy Bay resort offers a range of bungalows to suit every one's needs
Most of the bungalows have recently been renovated and there are also a number of new bungalows, which were built in late 2005.
Most of the bungalows are right on the beach, and those that aren't still command excellent views as they are set in the small foothills that look over Had Yao.
The bungalows are very spacious and built to high standards, with mosquito nets over the windows.
All of the bungalows have en-suite western style bathroom, some have hot water, and some also have air-conditioning, a TV set and minibar.
The Restaurant at Sandy Bay resort serves a wide variety of thai and western food, with some special thai dishes that are rarely seen on other menus. There is also daily-fresh seafood and nearly every night there is a beach barbeque.
Sandy Bay resort is located on the powdery-white sand of Haad Yao beach (also known as long bay), which is considered one of the best beaches on the island.
The beach is over one kilometre long and quite wide, which allows for ball games and an ample space for sun-worshipers.
Haad Yao beach is also great for swimming, snorkeling and diving, and the sunsets are amazing. The beach has a laid-back atmosphere and is preferred by those seeking a more relaxed vacation. It is very suitable for families with yound kids, as the road lies quite far behind the resort.
During the evening there are a few beach bars where you can have a drink and hang out with people from all over the world.
